Eleanor Philips
Eleanor works within a collaborative framework where outcomes are informed by the processes that take place through conversation making and exploration with others. Eleanor studied Fine Art in NCAD 2002, H.Dip Community Arts Education, NCAD 2005 and MA Art in Public Ulster University Belfast, 2009. She has been commissioned and supported by Arts Council Ireland, CREATE, Wicklow County Council, Craigavon County Council, Bray Urban District Council, PEACE III Arts and Diversity Fund, Northern Ireland, Regional Arts Council St.Louis, and City Council Celje, Slovenia. Her work has been shown throughout Ireland and is held in private and public collections including Wicklow Co.Co, DCU, Irish Aviation Authority and John Erickson Museum, Florida. Eleanor is a project leader for Blue Drum, National Arts Development Agencies for Family Resource Centres. At present she currently curates the Northsiders Museum which she conceived in 2011, a living museum whose materials are the stories and collections of those who work and shop in the Northside shopping center. www.facebook.com/northsiders.museum From 2009-2011 Eleanor initiated and led the project Minceire, Our People- An Exploration of them and us supported by Craigavon Council Arts Team, Craigavon Travellers Support Committee, The Good Relations Council, Southern Regional College and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. In 2008 she was awarded a residency with Chrysalis Womens Centre, Craigavon, Northern Ireland. In 2006 she was awarded a solo show in Mermaid and residency with Wicklow County Council where she worked with six primary schools and explored the meaning of “Community”. In 2005 Eleanor was granted an Artist in the Community Award CREATE. A founding member of Signal Arts Centre, Eleanor has been on the board of Directors for over 20 years |
